In this great episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Nelson Sivalingam, the brilliant CEO and co-founder of How Now. As you listen to his journey as an entrepreneur, You’re going to be inspired by his rock solid determination and passion for creating Something Extraordinary (capitals intended).
Nelson talks about the significance of finding the perfect people who share the same vision and values when it comes to building a business. Drawing parallels between his art of filmmaking and the process of entrepreneurship, he talked about the power of storytelling and how it can start a fire within individuals, propelling them onwards and upwards to great things.
One thing that truly resonated with me was Nelson’s approach to managing people and developing a team that thrives in its own company. We talked about the importance of setting clear expectations, creating an environment that fosters success, and nurturing a sense of collective effort. Nelson’s leadership style revolves around empowering his teams, allowing them to flourish and contribute through their unique talents – all aligned to the overall success of the organization.
Closer to home for both of us being L&D types – Nelson talked about delivering relevant and accessible learning experiences within the workplace. He was passionate about the the use of AI to personalize learning and track skill development, ensuring that each individual is nurtured and supported as an individual. He’s all for a shift towards an outcome-centric mindset, where incentives are aligned with desired results, (rather than vanity metric activities) ultimately driving the org towards greater success.
